MEDICINAL:
Oak bark is used to treat diarrhea, dysentery, and bleeding. For external use, the bark and/or leaves are boiled, and then applied to bruises, swollen tissues, wounds that are bleeding, and varicose veins.
GROWING:
Oak trees grow in many areas, from damp riverbanks to dry hillsides. It is a long-lived tree, growing to 100 feet in height.
